When is it enough: Standing against police violence

At the start of Black History Month, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion joins our community in denouncing the repeated acts of police brutality against Black Americans. We collectively mourn the losses of Tyre Nichols, Kennan Anderson, and others, while expressing anger and sadness at the ongoing violence committed against Black children and adults.

While all of us are affected by these senseless tragedies, we acknowledge the disproportionate burden that falls on our Black community members who are continually subjected to stories of Black people and their fatal interactions with the police. We will not stay silent in the face of continued violence against these communities. To hear more from our College, please consider rereading the statements written by our Student Ambassadors, Staff Representative Group, Faculty Senate, and Leadership Council in response to the murder of George Floyd. These collective words and sentiments remain as true today as they did in 2020.

As we process these most recent events, the DEI Office has a variety of resources available in its content library for those seeking more readings, videos, podcasts, and websites on anti-racist solidarity and social justice.
