2023 Spring Commencement faculty information
Spring 2023 Commencement will consist of the graduate ceremony on Thursday, May 11 in Sanford Stadium and the undergraduate ceremony on Friday, May 12 in Sanford Stadium.
Due to ongoing repairs, events to be held in Stegeman Coliseum, including graduate commencement, have been relocated. The graduate ceremonies will now be held in a single, combined ceremony in Sanford Stadium on Thursday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m. The back-up time in the event of inclement weather will be Friday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m. in Sanford Stadium. The undergraduate ceremony will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. More information will be provided to graduates via email and through the commencement website.
The Provost’s Office has again made special arrangements to help facilitate faculty participation in the spring ceremonies, including offering complimentary regalia rental from the UGA Bookstore.
- Ticketing (undergraduate only): Because of ongoing construction in the stadium, seating will be limited for undergraduate commencement. Therefore, tickets will be required for each graduate and their guests. Final ticket allocations will be made after the March 1 graduate application process closes, but we anticipate that eligible undergraduate degree recipients will be able to register for up to six guest tickets for general admission in the stands and one additional ticket for each graduate to sit on the field. An email will be sent on Monday, March 13 with the final number of tickets that will be available per graduate, and ticket registration will open on Monday, March 20.
- Regalia rental: Faculty regalia rental forms are due to the UGA Bookstore by Saturday, March 25. Regalia rentals requested after that date are not guaranteed and may incur a personal rush fee of $20 or more.
- Catering: Those participating in the graduate ceremonies on Thursday will have catering in the Tunnel 2 conference room. A dinner buffet will be provided for the undergraduate ceremony. Dinner service begins at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to participate in the dinner buffet, please indicate when you register to participate (there is an option to let us know if you have any dietary needs).
- Clear bag policy: The clear bag policy for UGA athletic events is in effect for commencement. Please follow the guidelines in the permitted/prohibited items section.
