Media mention: Cooper writes op-ed in Courier Journal

Bud Cooper, clinical professor and clinical education coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology, wrote an op-ed in the Courier Journal about the need for high schools to hire athletic trainers and questioned why athletic trainers are not required to be on high schools’ athletic staffs.

“The need for any institution to have on staff a healthcare provider who can not only manage general health care issues, but also manage catastrophic incidents can be viewed as a ‘win-win’ for the athletes and the school community,” he said.
