Celebrating LGBTQ pride in June

LGBTQ Pride Month is celebrated in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, as well as current and past advocacy movements that champion LGBTQ+ rights in our country. We honor the incredible strength and resiliency of the LGBTQIA community, many of whom fight tirelessly for equality while still facing discrimination, harassment, and violence.

Our nation has witnessed an unfortunate rise of legislation over the past year targeting these communities, and our College stands in solidarity with LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students. To celebrate the impact of the LGBTQ+ community and their fight for equal rights, we encourage you review educational resources and to consider participating in upcoming pride events. The Athens Pride Parade will be hosted by the Athens Pride and Queer Collective on Saturday, June 3.
