Media mention: Faculty members, doctoral student write op-ed in AJC

Stephanie Jones, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor, Hilary Hughes, associate professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, and Dylan Brody, doctoral student in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, wrote an op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the 20th anniversary of the Red Clay Writing Project.

Housed in the Mary Frances Early College of Education, the project began in 2003 and hosts 15 fellows each year, including educators in early childhood education, K-12, and university settings.

“We are so privileged to witness the profound shifts in teachers’ confidence and creativity every year. Red Clay isn’t a ‘class’ or ‘professional learning.’ It is an immersive experience in the kind of learning community in which we can all thrive and celebrate others’ thriving,” they said.
