Attend Georgia statewide read aloud days of "My Shadow is Purple" on July 28-30

Faculty and students are invited to participate in the Georgia statewide read aloud days of “My Shadow is Purple” to show support for preK-12 Georgia educators and their use of diverse, affirming, and inclusive literature.

Zinn Education Project and the Georgia Association of Educators have joined the partnership. Please use the QR code to sign up and host your own read aloud, or join others at one of the many sites across Georgia.

Athens sites are still being established, but will definitely include the following:

  • Athens Clarke County Library (children’s section): Friday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Lyndon House Arts Center: Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. This event, sponsored by the Red Clay Writing Project, will include activities for educators to learn more about the divisive concepts law.
  • Oconee Street UMC: Sunday, July 30 at noon

Please contact Stephanie Jones, one of the statewide read aloud organizers, for more information.
