Seven alumni named to UGA’s 2023 40 Under 40 Class

Seven alumni of the Mary Frances Early College of Education were recently named to the University of Georgia’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2023. The program celebrates the personal, professional, and philanthropic achievements of UGA graduates who are under the age of 40.

All honorees exemplify leadership in their industries and communities and uphold the Pillars of the Arch, which are wisdom, justice, and moderation. The Class of 2023 will be recognized during the 13th annual 40 Under 40 Awards Luncheon on campus this fall.

  • Tiffany Barney (B.S.Ed. ’09, M.S. ’10, M.A.T. ’15, Ph.D. ’17, M.Ed. ’18), director of the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy in the Cobb County School District
  • Collier Collier (A.B. ’10, B.S.Ed. ’10), director of state board operations for the Technical College System of Georgia
  • Ray Fulcher (B.S.Ed. ’08, M.Ed. ’10), award-winning artist and songwriter
  • Lawrence Harris (B.S. ’12, Ph.D. ’21), chief impact officer of KIPP Metro Atlanta Public Schools
  • R. Allen Ligon Jr. (B.S.Ed. ’08), pediatric and adult congenital interventional cardiologist at the Children’s Heathcare of Atlanta Cardiology
  • Delishia Pittman (Ph.D. ’12), associate professor at The George Washington University
  • Fernando Velasco (B.S.Ed. ’08), director of player engagement for the Atlanta Falcons

Student named Cora Nunnally Miller Fine Arts Scholar

Katherine Stockton, an undergraduate student double majoring in exercise and sport science and dance, was named to the 2023 cohort of Cora Nunnally Miller Fine Arts Scholars.

Stockton is one of four students in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences to receive this scholarship, which awards recipients $6,500 per year for four years.
