Media mention: Zhai quoted in UGA Today story about AI

Xiaoming Zhai, an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education, was quoted in a UGA Today story on AI in higher education.

Zhai and his research team in the AI for STEM Education Center are developing an “explainable protocol” to outline how AI programs like ChatGPT generate responses, which could help students understand source material and improve critical thinking skills.

“If our students are going into a workforce where AI is everywhere, we need to incorporate that into our educational system and teaching methods,” he said. “We are actively thinking about how to best prepare students to be successful in the future.”
