National Preparedness Month: Let’s talk communication

You should identify several methods to receive and send information during an emergency. While cell phone systems are usually reliable, they may be overloaded. Consider updating your status on social media, texting a trusted friend who lives out of state, or other low-bandwidth methods of communication. Establishing family code words are also one more way to guard your family’s safety.

The UGA Safe app allows users to share their location with friends, text with the UGA Police, and share their location with the UGA Police. UGA Alert is the primary emergency notification system used to communicate emergency information to the UGA campus. All students, faculty, and staff are automatically signed up for email alerts, but we also recommend you visit the UGA Alert website to sign up for text messaging alerts and verify your information.
