Celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Indigenous Peoples’ Day, observed on Monday, Oct. 9, celebrates the cultures, diversity, and resilience of Native peoples in our nation.

We believe it is important to recognize the legacy of colonialism on Indigenous communities throughout history and reflect on their many contributions to our country. In 2021, Athens-Clarke County adopted a resolution to officially recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the second Monday of October.
