Panaou receives Cypress State Award, recognition by International Youth Library for novel

Petros Panaou, clinical professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, won the Cyprus State Award for the Best Book Addressed to Older Children and Youth for his middle grades novel “Operation Logos: The Mobile Phone Mystery.” Called “The State Award” because it is organized and sponsored by the government of Cyprus, it is the most prestigious literary award in the country. There will be a formal award ceremony, under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture, on Tuesday, Dec. 5, and TV spots about the book will be broadcasted on live TV and social media.

Additionally, the International Youth Library, an international institution based in Munich, Germany, selected the book as one of the best 200 books in the world deemed worthy to be translated and published in other languages. They did so by including the book in the celebrated White Ravens list, which they curate and publish annually. They exhibit and promote selected books at international book fairs across the globe.
