Schey featured in AERA podcast on affirming LGBTQIA+ identities

Ryan Schey, an assistant professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, was recently featured on the American Educational Research Association Writing and Literacies Special Interest Group’s “Inquiring Minds” podcast. The episode, “Affirming LGBTQIA+ Identities,” also features Gabriel Acevedo of Arizona State University and Ethan Trinh of Georgia State University.

Shen receives early career award from research society

Zuchao “William” Shen, an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, recently received the 2023 Early Career Award from the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness.

The award—which Shen received at the Society’s conference in September—recognizes early career scholars whose work advances rigorous research relevant to educational practice.

“This recognition means a great deal to me, not only as a personal achievement, but also as an acknowledgment of the importance of the areas I have worked on,” said Shen. “This award signifies validation and encouragement to continue developing optimal design strategies for experimental studies.”

Kinesiology program ranks in top five of NAK 2023 doctoral program rankings

The Mary Frances Early College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology ranked in the top five for doctoral programs in kinesiology, according to the National Academy of Kinesiology 2023 Doctoral Program Evaluation in Kinesiology.

Out of 35 programs across the country, the College’s doctoral program in kinesiology ranked fifth when adjusted for the size of faculty and fourth when unadjusted for the size of faculty.
