Media mention: Delgado-Romero quoted in The Red & Black

Edward Delgado-Romero, associate dean for faculty and staff services, was quoted in a recent Red & Black story about La Clínica in LaK’ech, a bilingual mental health clinic he founded eight years ago to serve Spanish-speaking residents in Athens.

The clinic will close next spring due to a shortage of therapists who speak Spanish. However, Delgado-Romero and other clinic staff are proud of the work they’ve done for the community.

“There aren’t that many providers who are providing services in language or aware of the culture in a way that Latinx people will feel included or want to go,” he said. “Once you remove those barriers… we found that people will come, and they’re not as concerned about the stigma at all.”
