Kudos: Schmidt, Stefaniak win awards at international conference

Matthew Schmidt and Jill Stefaniak, associate professors in the Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology, received awards at the 2023 Association for Educational Communications and Technology International Conference.

Schmidt received the 2023 Outstanding Journal Article Award in Design and Development for his research teams’ paper titled, “Programming for Generalization: Confronting Known Challenges in the Design of Virtual Reality Interventions for Autistic Users,” published in Computers in Education. He also received the Outstanding Research and Theory Proposal Award with former student, Jennifer Lu, assistant professor at Oklahoma State University, for their proposal titled, “Challenging the Status Quo of Usability Research: Examining the Constructs and Psychometric Properties in Existing Instruments.”

Stefaniak received the Outstanding Design and Development Book Award for her book, “The Instructional Design Trainer’s Guide: Authentic Practices and Considerations for Mentoring ID and Ed Tech Professionals,” published by Routledge in 2022.
