Spring 2024 ITT Academy: An exploration of generative AI in education

  • Intent to participate deadline: Friday, Feb. 2

We are excited to announce the call for participation for the spring 2024 Innovation in Teaching and Technology (ITT) Academy. This unique opportunity is open to faculty members and graduate teaching assistants who are curious to explore and discuss the potential of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in education. This academy is targeted at beginner to intermediate level AI users, but no prior AI experience is necessary.

The upcoming academy will concentrate on the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) in educational settings. Our sessions will delve into a range of pivotal topics, including:

  • Prompt engineering: Master the art of crafting effective prompts to maximize the utility of LLMs in educational contexts
  • Assignment makeovers: Learn how to revamp traditional assignments using AI tools, adding a layer of innovation and engagement
  • Addressing concerns and biases: Explore the use of AI detection tools to identify and mitigate biases in student work, ensuring fairness and integrity
  • Safe and appropriate usage: Equip yourself with strategies to guide students in the ethical and effective use of these advanced tools

The ITT Academy provides support and resources to enhance teaching through innovative instructional strategies and technologies. Our aim is to empower educators with the knowledge and tools to integrate AI seamlessly into their teaching methodologies, fostering a forward-thinking educational environment.
