Join the UGA qualitative research program for the UGA QUAL Lab Speaker Series, “Discovering Black Existentialism: A Qualitative Journey,” presented by E. Anthony Muhammad (Ph.D. ’19). Black existentialism is a philosophical tradition encompassing diverse depictions, articulations, theories, and interpretations of Black life under white supremacy.

In this presentation, Muhammad will reflect on his journey to Black existentialism, shedding light on the pivotal theories, scholars, and philosophies that acted as breadcrumbs leading him to its multifaceted traditions. As a critical qualitative scholar, he also expounds upon the methodologies and methods employed in his investigations of the Black lived experience. This talk aims to provide insights into the intellectual and practical dimensions of engaging with Black existentialism while offering a nuanced perspective on the experiences of a Black faculty member.
