College faculty, alumni to present at TEDxUGA 2024

A faculty member and two alumni of the Mary Frances Early College of Education will present at TEDxUGA 2024 on Friday, March 29.

Denis Dumas, an associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, will present about identifying and supporting highly creative students. Dumas joined the College in 2022, and his research focuses on gifted and creative education.

Narke Norton (A.B. ’14, M.Ed. ’19, Ph.D. ’24) currently serves as director of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia and is a doctoral student in the college student affairs administration program. He previously gave a talk at TEDxUGA 2014 which focused on debate and public speaking.

Fernando Velasco (B.S.Ed. ’08), director of player engagement for the Atlanta Falcons, will discuss the effects of forgiveness on healing and working through trauma in his talk. Velasco graduated from the College with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and is a former NFL and UGA football player.
