Welcome new staff member: Sheila Banks

Sheila Banks is joining the Mary Frances College of Education’s Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education after working in a variety of administrative roles, including nine years at the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. She began her career in education in 2000, working as an instructor in the After-School Enrichment Program in Henry County Schools and subsequently as a bookkeeper in Henry and Oconee County Schools. Sheila has always had a passion for education, but discovered her passion for special education after helping raise her nephew, who was diagnosed with dyslexia.

Sheila has been married to her husband, Greg, for 29 years, is the mother of two sons, and a proud grandmother. She is also a dog mom to Chloe, a Shih Tzu. Sheila is an avid reader, loves to camp with her family, going to the beach, traveling and, of course, watching Georgia football. She is very excited to get to know and help the department.
