Media mention: Rosenzweig quoted in Education Week

Emily Rosenzweig, an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, was quoted in an Education Week story about how educators motivate middle school students in STEM subjects.

To engage students in grades 6-8 academically, teachers have implemented strategies like project-based learning or provided students with different options to complete assignments and nurture their independence, while providing opportunities to apply the STEM concepts they learn to real-world scenarios.

“In my opinion, the more we can do to cultivate that interest and confidence early, so students continue to see it as for them and continue to develop the basic competencies that leave the door open to lots of paths that they might discover later, the better,” Rosenzweig said.
