UGA’s dyslexia endorsement, certificate program receives IPA accreditation
The Dyslexia Endorsement and Certificate program at the University of Georgia was recently accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).
Since its founding in 2016, UGA’s Dyslexia Endorsement and Certificate program—housed in the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education—has attracted and prepared hundreds of teacher candidates and practicing teachers from a range of fields.
Accreditation from IDA is an external sign that the certificate program meets or exceeds the association’s expectation for the effective delivery of literacy-related instruction. UGA is one of only a handful of public universities accredited by IDA, and the only university in the state to offer an accredited program.

Ardoin named 2024-25 Research Faculty Fellow
Scott Ardoin, associate dean for research and graduate education and professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, was named a 2024-25 Office of Research Faculty Fellow.
The program aims to prepare Fellows for future leadership roles in the Office of Research and offers professional development in research administration. Through the program, Ardoin will work with Sponsored Projects Administration and the Office of Research Integrity and Safety.
“Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of working closely with both units,” Ardoin said. “Through the fellowship, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of how they collaborate to facilitate the awarding of grants and explore ways to enhance their collaboration so that grantees are able to access their funds in a timelier fashion.”

Edward Delgado-Romero and Collette Chapman-Hilliard, faculty members in the Mary Frances Early College of Education, received awards and fellowships from Division 17 of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society of Counseling Psychology.
Delgado-Romero, associate dean for faculty and staff services and professor, received the Social Justice Award in Counseling Psychology and Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Awards. Chapman-Hilliard, an associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services, was named a Fellow of APA.

Engelhard presents presidential address to Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Society
George Engelhard, a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, presented his presidential address to the Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Society in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
His talk, titled “Attitude Measurement Revisited,” focused on the application of next generation measurement theories to the problems encountered in measuring controversial attitudes, such as censorship, abortion, and capital punishment.
