Media mention: Cooper interviewed on GPB
Bud Cooper, clinical professor and clinical education coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology, was interviewed by Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) about the development of heat standards for high school athletic activities.
According to research from the University of Georgia, Georgia had 58 deaths related to extreme heat between 1980 and 2009. Cooper and the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) created safety guidelines following two heat-related deaths. Since they were published, there have been no heat-related deaths in Georgia where the GHSA policy was followed.
