Abraham’s new book featured in The Transmitter

A new book by Anna Abraham, E. Paul Torrance Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and director of the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development, was featured on a list of the most notable neuroscience book releases of the year in The Transmitter, a publication by the Simons Foundation. The book, titled “The Creative Brain: Myths and Truths” (MIT Press) was published on April 30.

Cooper quoted in Courier Journal

Bud Cooper, clinical professor and clinical education coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology, was quoted in a Courier Journal article about the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s (KHSAA) recent adoption of a new heat policy.

The policy measures heat based on wet bulb globe temperature, a measurement used in other southern states including Georgia, and is similar to guidelines developed by Cooper and the Georgia High School Association for Georgia high school athletes. However, the KHSAA policy does not mention practices.

“Ninety percent of all deaths occur in practice, they don’t occur in a game,” Cooper said. “So, I applaud Kentucky for putting this policy together and having this in place, but it is not addressing the critical need and that is: What are you doing in practice?”
