In fall 2023, the University of Georgia updated its administrative practices related to faculty recruitment. Anyone currently involved in an active search or hiring process must complete UGA Employee Recruitment Training,
an asynchronous course created by University Human Resources that may be found in the Professional Education Portal (PEP).
The Faculty Leader Series covers a range of competencies that include: defining leadership in higher education, interpersonal communication, personal mastery, team management, and systems thinking.

Keys to UGA is a year-long series of events that provide incoming and early career faculty with resources and information valuable to success. All faculty are welcome.

- Nuts and Bolts of Sponsored Projects Administration: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1-2:30 p.m., Zoom
Leadership Luncheons
This luncheon series brings together academic leaders for peer networking and mentoring. Deans, department heads, directors, and other leaders in titled roles are welcome to register. Due to the limited availability of seating, advanced registration is required.
- Leadership Luncheon with Anna Stenport, dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences: Tuesday, Oct. 1, noon–1:30 p.m., in person
- Leadership Luncheon with Erik C. Ness, director of the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education: Wednesday, Nov. 6, noon-1:30 p.m., in person
The 2024 New Leader Program will introduce a variety of important policies and provide opportunities to strengthen management and leadership skills through interactive discussions and activities. A detailed schedule is available on the Office of Faculty Affairs website and is outlined on the registration survey.
We invite newly appointed academic unit administrators (department heads, associate and assistant deans, and other academic leaders) to register for the New Leader Program.
