Merit raise update
Late on Thursday, the University approved merit raise recommendations for faculty and staff members and approved the College to notify those who will be receiving merit increases. Early next week, each person receiving a merit increase will get an email with specific information about the dollar amount and percentage of their raise; unit heads will be copied on the communication. Those who are not receiving an increase will not receive any notification.
The parameters for merit raises were (provided verbatim):
- Merit-based increases can be recommended for salary adjustments of up to 4% for up to 20% of faculty and up to 20% of staff in your unit who have provided outstanding service to the institution and serve a critical role in UGA’s continued success. These funds are being allocated to recognize outstanding performance and help address critical internal compression, external market forces, and retention needs.
- Performance must be the primary consideration.
- Faculty: The faculty member’s 2023 performance evaluation must indicate exceptional productivity in at least one area where the faculty member’s allocation of effort (teaching, research, service, etc.) is more than 20%.
- Staff: Individuals must have an overall job performance rating of exceeds requirements OR meets expectations with at least one exceeds expectations in a primary role or primary area of responsibility on their 2023 performance review.
- If individuals have a needs improvement rating in any area of their review, they are not eligible.
