Support and counseling services available for faculty and staff
In light of the recent tragic events at Apalachee High School, we want to remind you that counseling services are available to support the mental and emotional well-being of our faculty and staff during this difficult time. Below are resources available to all UGA faculty and staff and their dependents:
- Acentra Health Employee Assistance Program: Provides 24/7 access to free counseling specialists for mental health and emotional support. Sessions are available virtually or in person. Visit mylifeexpert.com or call 844-243-4440.
- Anthem BCBS Emotional Well-being Resources: For employees enrolled in an Anthem healthcare plan, this program offers virtual appointments with mental health specialists 24/7. Schedule an appointment at anthem.com or call 800-424-8950.
- Kaiser Permanente: Members can connect with a mental health professional by calling 404-365-0966 or visiting my.kp.org.
Please take advantage of these resources if you need support.
And as always, as you support our students, please remember to regularly and clearly share student resources. Student Care and Outreach works with students who may be experiencing distress and/or difficult circumstances. They have a team of staff to assist students in connecting with and navigating resources and support services here on campus and in Athens. If a student needs anything in the coming days, please contact their office at 706-542-8479 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m-5 p.m.), or they can walk in without an appointment to their office located at 318 Tate Student Center. Students are also welcome to fill out an online form anytime to request assistance.
Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) in the University Health Center provides 24/7 support; students can call or walk in (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.), no appointment necessary. Students can connect with an on-call clinician by calling 706-542-2273 after 5 p.m. on weekdays and anytime 24/7 on weekends and holidays. There are no out-of-pocket costs for any CAPS service.
UGA offers a variety of free digital resources to assist students and staff. You can find more about these resources as well as other well-being resources available to you at well-being.uga.edu.
