Please join us for the sixth USG Science of Reading Higher Education Consortium Professional Learning session on “Delving into Disciplinary Literacy.” Roberta Price Gardner and Kristie W. Smith from Kennesaw State University to lead this informative talk.
This webinar session will explore the what, why, and how of disciplinary literacies for elementary, middle grades, and secondary classrooms and include a focus on teacher preparation for disciplinary literacy instruction.
Roberta Price Gardner is an associate professor of reading and literacy education at Kennesaw State University in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Her research explores the use and response of diverse children’s literature including diverse nonfiction children’s literature. She is currently an associate editor of “The Reading Teacher.”
Kristie W. Smith (she/her) is an assistant professor of English language arts education in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education at Kennesaw State University. Kristie’s scholarship and creative activities interrogate racial justice in the educational context, language and linguistic justice, and critical teacher preparation for the middle grades.
