Kudos: Holmes Scholars attend AACTE conference, receive internship placements
This month, the Holmes Scholars had the exciting opportunity to travel to Long Beach, California, to attend the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and participate in the Holmes pre-conference. Among the many highlights, two of our scholars, Jaminque Adams, whose dissertation is titled “Teaching in a Burning House: The Paradox of Black Women Teachers Carework, Healing and Wellness,” and Matthew Nyaaba, whose study is titled “Developing and Validating an Instrument to Measure Pre-service Teachers’ Perception of Culturally Responsive Science Assessment in Generative AI,” were selected as finalists in the prestigious dissertation funding competition. They both demonstrated an impressive display of academic excellence, and Matthew earned second place! His achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication. The Holmes Scholars program is incredibly proud of both Jaminque and Matthew for their accomplishments and their contributions to the field of education.
Additionally, the program is thrilled to congratulate two of our outstanding Holmes Scholars, Brianna Caldwell and Madison Rodriguez, on their successful placements for their educational psychology internships! Brianna has been matched with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital in the Behavioral Sciences Division, where she will gain invaluable experience working with children and families in a clinical setting. Madison has been placed at the prestigious Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where she will contribute to the development and support of students’ academic and emotional well-being. These placements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for making a positive impact in the field of educational psychology. The Holmes Scholars program is incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see the wondrous contributions they will make during their internships.
