Cooper receives award from the American Society for Nutrition
The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) announced the first awardees of the Excellence in Nutrition Fellows of ASN program, recognizing distinguished members for their ongoing contributions to the field and sustained engagement in the nutrition community. Among the award winners was Jamie A. Cooper, professor and department head of the Department of Kinesiology.
St. Pierre receives award from the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry
Bettie St. Pierre, a professor in the College, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (ICQI). This year, she presented the Post Qualitative Inquiry Lecture Series consisting of six lectures that highlighted her work. She will be recognized at the ICQI Conference this spring.
Zhang receives award from SHAPE America
James Zhang, a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, was awarded the Measurement and Evaluation Lifetime Achievement Award from the Measurement and Evaluation Special Interest Group of the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America). He will receive the award at the 2025 SHAPE America National Convention and Expo in April.
Alumna’s latest picturebook selected for National Council of Social Studies’ 2025 Notable Social Studies Trade Books
“Quiet Night, My Astronaut,” the latest children’s picturebook written by Oksana Lushchevska (Ph.D. ’16), an alumna of the Department of Language and Literacy Education, was selected for the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)’s 2025 Notable Social Studies Trade Books. This list is “an annual reading list of exceptional books for use in social studies classrooms, selected by social studies educators… The selection committee looks for books that emphasize human relations, represent a diversity of groups and are sensitive to a broad range of cultural experiences, present an original theme or a fresh slant on a traditional topic, are easily readable and of high literary quality, have a pleasing format and, when appropriate, illustrations that enrich the text.”
