Last call: 2025 Spring Commencement faculty information

Spring 2025 Commencement will consist of three exercises over two days, with separate master’s and doctoral ceremonies held on Thursday, May 8, and the undergraduate ceremony held on Friday, May 9.

Commencement dates and times are as follows:

Spring 2025 Commencement

Thursday, May 8

  • Master’s and specialist: 10 a.m. at Stegeman Coliseum
  • Doctoral: 2:30 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum

Friday, May 9

  • Undergraduate: 7:30 p.m. at Sanford Stadium

We have again made special arrangements to help facilitate faculty participation in the spring ceremonies, including offering complimentary regalia rental from the UGA Bookstore and parking at the Carlton Street deck next to Stegeman Coliseum for the graduate ceremonies.

Graduate ceremony:

  • Hooding faculty: Please note that if you are a major professor for a doctoral student, it is not only an honor but also an expectation that you attend and participate in the hooding of the student. If you cannot attend for some unavoidable reason, please identify a substitute to attend and hood the student at the ceremony. Faculty participating in the hooding activity will sit with their doctoral students and be part of the academic procession. You will line up with your student(s) in the Basketball Practice Gym on the second floor of the Coliseum Training Facility. Please make plans to meet in the Coliseum with your student no later than 1:30 p.m.
  • Faculty processional: Faculty not participating in the hooding activity will assemble in the Conference Room on the lower level of Stegeman Coliseum. These faculty members will march in immediately preceding the platform party.

Undergraduate ceremony: Faculty participating in the processional will assemble in the Tate Center and will march onto the field immediately preceding the platform party.

  • Regalia rental: Faculty regalia can be obtained through the registration form. Rental requests are due to the UGA Bookstore by Friday, March 14. Regalia rentals requested after that date are not guaranteed and may incur a personal rush fee of $20 or more. The cost of regalia rental is only covered for faculty attending one of the main commencement ceremonies and does not include faculty only attending a college convocation.
  • Parking: Limited parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is requested through the Commencement registration form. The deadline to register for parking is Friday, March 14. You must request a parking pass for each ceremony you plan to attend.
  • Catering: Those participating will have catering provided before the ceremonies in Stegeman Tunnel 2 for the graduate ceremonies and in Tate Reception Hall for the undergraduate ceremony.
  • Clear bag policy: The clear bag policy for UGA athletic events is in effect for Commencement. Please follow the guidelines in the permitted/prohibited items section.

Faculty who plan to attend either (or both) of the commencement ceremonies should use the online form to register by Friday, March 14.
