Safety First: Preventing Rural Youth Risk Behavior

Congratulations to Amanda Giordano and her research team for receiving an award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To address substance use and risk behavior prevention programming needs, a virtual training for youth development professionals and caregivers will be developed. Program outcomes will be evaluated through pre- and post-tests during training and at three months post-training. Participants are expected to increase their knowledge of youth risk behavior and self-efficacy in responding to youth needs.

Characterization of Cardiovascular Responses to Passive Whole-Body Heat Stress in Obese and Non-Obese Middle-Aged Adults

Congratulations to S. Tony Wolf for being awarded a 2025 Career Development Award from the American Heart Association. His research team will examine whether metabolomic alterations are associated with exaggerated cardiovascular strain during heat stress in middle-aged adults with obesity.
