Kudos: Chiesa to guide global TESOL innovation

David Chiesa, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, has been invited to lead TESOL Master Class Webinar Series 8.1 for English language educators in Mainland China—one of the most prestigious and selective initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Regional English Language Office (RELO). This rare opportunity is extended to only a handful of global experts and is designed for leading professionals and forward-thinking educators who are actively shaping the future of English language teaching worldwide.

Entitled “Teaching with Tech, Grounded in Purpose: Intentional Integration of Technology in Language Education,” the five-part series explores how cutting-edge tools—including artificial intelligence—can be thoughtfully integrated into language teaching. Grounded in the TPACK framework, the sessions will guide participants in using technology to enhance pedagogy, foster student engagement, support meaningful assessment, and promote reflective instructional design.

The Master Class will culminate in a three-week, in-person training in Mainland China in summer 2025. As part of this extended engagement, Chiesa will also present at the 2025 Global English Education China Assembly with members of the TESOL Master Class cohort, advancing professional collaboration and highlighting innovations in global English language education.
