Service animals and UGA animal policy

We all love seeing and interacting with our furry friends, but your UGA workplace is not a place for pets. The service animals and UGA animal policy does not allow pets or emotional support animals to be brought into the employment setting. The only allowable animals in the employment setting are service animals which have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability or service animals in training.

Animals, other than service animals, in the office may have unintended effects on your coworkers, students, visitors to campus and authorized service animals. We want to consider people who may be allergic or frightened of animals and not impact their comfort and safety in our buildings. In addition, an untrained animal may pose a risk to service animals who are often trained to avoid confrontation and will not defend themselves from other animals. Finally, the use of pet gates in public doorways impedes access in the event of an emergency.
