UGA Teacher Residency in middle grades science

The middle grades education program is partnering with Clarke County School District (CCSD) to offer a free teacher residency program in which teachers “earn to learn” while pursuing their M.A.T. degree in middle grades science. Teacher residents will work alongside a CCSD mentor teacher for the 2025-26 school year while completing coursework at UGA. Hired as graduate research assistants, teacher residents will receive a tuition waiver and stipend while completing action research in their placement classrooms. In exchange, residents commit to teaching in CCSD for three years after graduation.

UGA’s Teacher Residency Program prepares, supports, and retains teachers, particularly those who have been historically underrepresented, to engage students in meaningful and empowering learning opportunities. We are recruiting for this new program until Friday, June 13. This first cohort focuses on preparing middle grades science teachers, and we hope to expand to other content areas and grade bands in the future. Please share with those in your community.
