Delgado-Romero elected to presidency of Society of Counseling Psychology

Edward A. Delgado-Romero, associate dean for faculty and staff services and professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services, was elected president of the Society of Counseling Psychology, Division 17 of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Delgado-Romero’s term will be from 2026-28, and he will be president in 2027 at the APA Conference in San Francisco, California. His presidency will focus on the issues of Latinx immigrants and psychology. Delgado-Romero is the fourth SCP/UGA president after George Gazda, Andy Horne, and Annelise Singh.


Abraham speaks at The Seminar 2025

Anna Abraham, Torrance Center director and E. Paul Torrance Professor, was an invited speaker at The Seminar 2025 in Savannah, Georgia (June 8-10). The Seminar is the premier organization of the highest-ranking communications and public affairs executives at the world’s most influential corporations, nonprofit organizations, and public relations agencies. The Seminar provides top professionals with a network and an exchange for the sharing of ideas at an annual three-day meeting.

Abraham and fellow panel discussant Honor Bowman, executive dean of academic services at Savannah College of Art and Design, spoke on creativity and brain power in the opening session of the forum.

Other distinguished speakers included Stacey Abrams, former minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives; Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State; Richard Reeves, Brookings Institution; Dan Glickman, former Secretary of Agriculture; Ann Veneman, former Secretary of Agriculture; Jeremy Renner, actor and author; Chris Womack, Southern Company; Jessica Yellin, journalist; Rebecca Blumenstein, NBC News Editorial; Kevin Sack, author, “Mother Emanuel;” and Derek Thompson, co-author, “Abundance,” among others.


Graduate student crowned Miss Georgia 2025

Audrey Kittila (B.S.Ed. ’24, M.Ed. ’26), a graduate student in the Mary Frances Early College of Education’s communication sciences and disorders program, was recently crowned Miss Georgia at the 80th Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition. She will represent Georgia at the Miss America pageant in the fall.
