Reminder of minors policy requirement

The University of Georgia is committed to providing a safe environment for all minors participating in programs and activities on campus or otherwise affiliated with the University. In accordance with this commitment and Board of Regents Policy 6.9, the Policy for Programs and Activities Serving Minors extends to all University-sponsored programs/activities, as well as any third-party organizations that use University facilities for programs and activities serving minors (defined as persons under the age of 18 years) who are not UGA students.

Program staff who have direct contact with minors must undergo a background investigation prior to working with minors.

Based on USG guidance, program administrators are asked to submit the names of all program/activity staff (including UGA employees) to their unit’s HR representative prior to the start of new programs/activities, and then annually. Some employees may be required to have new background investigations completed. Background check information is available on the UGA’s Programs and Activities Serving Minors webpage.

For the Mary Frances Early College of Education, all programs involving minors, both College-sponsored and third party, must be approved and registered with the Programs Serving Minors Office. Please consult senior associate dean Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett if you have any questions.
