Accessibility training opportunity

Jeff Rieter, digital accessibility liaison in the Mary Frances Early College of Education, is sharing an upcoming training opportunity and several reminders to help support accessible digital content in our unit.

Accessibility Checkers Across Common Platforms

This training will introduce accessibility checkers available in Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, eLC and Ally, and common web tools. Participants will learn how to:

  • Run built-in accessibility checkers
  • Understand common checker results
  • Correct frequently identified accessibility issues
  • Recognize limitations of automated testing
  • Determine when manual accessibility review is needed

Accessibility checkers are a starting point. Accessibility checkers can identify many common issues, but they cannot determine whether all content is usable by people with disabilities.

Digital Accessibility Office Hours

  • Virtual office hours held every Friday at 10 a.m.

Faculty, staff, digital accessibility liaisons, and other content creators are welcome to attend with questions about documents, presentations, PDFs, websites, eLC course materials, Ally results, captions, alternative text, accessibility barriers, or general accessibility planning. Participants may attend the full session or join briefly to ask a specific question.

Register by visiting the events page on the DASH website. Thank you for helping make our digital information, services, and learning environments more accessible.
