Kudos: Phelps receives Elder Award
Rosemary Phelps, a professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services, was awarded the Society of Counseling Psychology (American Psychological Association Division 17) Elder Recognition Award, which honors senior counseling psychologists whose lifetime contributions have had a profound and enduring impact on the field and on the mission of the Society.
The Elder Recognition Award honors those who embody the core values of counseling psychology—including prevention and wellness, social justice and advocacy, multicultural competence, developmental perspective, and the enhancement of human potential across the lifespan, and have a sustained record of excellence and leadership in counseling psychology through scholarship, practice, teaching, supervision, mentoring, advocacy, and/or service. In her nomination, it was noted that Phelps has made significant and lasting contributions to the growth, visibility, and vitality of the Society of Counseling Psychology, and has demonstrated a deep commitment to mentorship, community, and the promotion of equity and inclusion in psychology.
