From the Dean: Strategic planning input

As you are likely aware, the University developed a new strategic plan last year, and this academic year, all campus units will develop their own plans. Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett will be leading the development of goals and key performance indicators with shared leadership from association deans in each area (teaching, research, and service), and I will be leading the mission and vision portion with support from Chuck Toney, a communications expert. We will be discussing our planning process and how you can be involved at the Fall Meeting on Aug. 11.

During that meeting, Toney will lead a session to get us started on mission and vision. To that end, he has sent the following message:

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead the process of creating vision statement, mission statement, and key messages as elements of the strategic plan for the Mary Frances Early College of Education. I started my communications consulting company five years ago with the goal of helping people and organizations I respect and admire to create their unique stories and share those stories with audiences that matter to them. Dean Spangler was a colleague and friend during my 15 years at UGA, and I am honored by her trust in me.

The set of survey questions I am sharing here will help us define the themes in the message development process. I have found these questions to be effective in generating input that is very helpful to me. I relish the challenge of helping you create a succinct and potent message that expresses and celebrates the depth and breadth of the College.
